“Planning and Managing Projects"

Recommended for Third Year - Fall Semester

 

Theme Overview: In the sixth term, students have completed nearly three years of engagement and worked on different levels. Now, In their positions involve projects that help to build the capacity of an organization or community. These may include program development and management, volunteer management, fundraising, communications and marketing, research, and more. Some students may engage in social action campaigns. These workshops will equip students with a comprehensive, effective approach to project planning and management. As programs integrate a junior and/or senior year capstone, the capstone workshop will prepare students to finalize their own work plans, involvement of advisors, and realistic timeline and supports.

 

Module  Description 

Theme 6.1

Overview of Project Management with a Case Study: This workshop will introduce participants to processes for managing projects. They will learn how to set goals by analyzing the stakeholders in any project. This process helps project managers create a realistic vision and plan for success.

Completing a Project Management Case Study: This workshop introduces the next phase, analyzing the resources needed and what stakeholders will need to stay engaged and satisfied. Through that, the project manager creates steps and addresses risks.

Hands-on Project Management with Individualized Case Study: This workshop introduces strategies for creating a fully developed work plan, including to do lists, timelines, budget and resource allocation. It will address tips for managing one’s own and others’ progress.

Presenting Case Study and Project Plans for Feedback: This workshop introduces project managers to the final phase for how to execute and evaluate the project. Through feedback mechanisms and review of the results, project managers can then revise their plans.

Capstone #6

 

Bonner Capstone Proposal and Work Plan: This is part 6 (of 8) of a series for Bonner Scholars and Leaders to build an integrative community engaged signature capstone. Students finalize the components of their capstone projects. By the end of this workshop, students have a complete proposal and are ready to begin in the following semester.
