Part 2 - Application Packet


Prospective Application Form  |  Application Packet  |  Criminal History Background Checks | Orientation and Enrollment


 

Step 1: Confirm AmeriCorps Eligibility

To serve in the NJ Bonner AmeriCorps Program, an individual must:

  • Be a US Citizen, National or Legal Permanent Resident;
  • Be at least 17 years of age;
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED or be actively working towards a diploma or GED; and 
  • Successfully complete a three-part criminal history check which includes the National Sex Offender Public Website, a check of the designated state repository in New Jersey and in the state the Member resides at the time of application, and a Self-Certification.  Please contact Program Manager, Kristi Cordier, if you have an applicant who resides in a state other than IL, NH, NJ, NY, PA, TN or VA.

 

Gather the required Eligibility Documents from applicants during the Member Application Process.  You must view the original copies of the following documents and make photocopies to submit with the Member Application via BWBRS or mailed to the Bonner Foundation.    

  • Government-issued photo identification (State Identification Card, State Driver's License, Public School Identification Card); 
  • Government-issued birth certificate, US passport, Legal Permanent Resident Card or Certificate of Naturalization; and
  • Signed Social Security Card. 

 

Step 2: Ensure that the Applicant completes the Member Application FULLY and CORRECTLY

The prospective applicant, campus administrator or community partner site supervisor must complete all required fields of the prospective applicant information via the Prospective NJ Bonner AmeriCorps Applicant Form

 

The prospective applicant will then receive the PDF-fillable NJ Bonner AmeriCorps Application form directly to the email provided initially in the Google Form from Kristi Cordier (kcordier@bonner.org) or Jasmine Rangel (jasmine@bonner.org). This form is to be filled out on the computer.

Applicant must complete and submit NJ Bonner AmeriCorps Application via email or PDF direct submission (or if applicable, completes My AmeriCorps Portal Application to a listed service opportunity). 

 

Step 3: Upload Applicant's Eligibility Documents to BWBRS or submit by mail to Bonner Foundation

Clearly legible photocopies of the documents referenced in Step 1 must be attached to the Member Application via BWBRS or mailed to the Bonner Foundation 10 Mercer Street Princeton, NJ 08540 cc: Kristi Cordier.

 

Step 4: Submit Applicant's Resume to the Member Application

The applicant may email their resume into Kristi Cordier (Kcordier@bonner.org) or Jasmine Rangel (jasmine@bonner.org).

 

Step 5: Submit the Applicant's Education Documentation to the Member Application. 

Applicants MUST submit evidence of the highest level of education by including a photocopy of his/her High School Diploma, GED, College Transcript or College Diploma. Submit these by email to Kristi Cordier (kcordier@bonner.org) or Jasmine Rangel (jasmine@bonner.org). 

 

Once prospective members consent to a Criminal History check through their application, campus staff or NJ Bonner AmeriCorps staff (on behalf of community partners) will initiate or conductive following checks: 

 

Step 6: Attach Applicant's National Sex Offender Public Website check results to the Member Application

Please refer to the Visual step-by-step guide for the NSOPW to conduct the pre-enrollment National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) check that must be completed and documented for all applicants. The printed and signed copy of the applicant's NSOPW check result(s) plus any supporting documentation must be attached to the Member Application. 

 

Step 7: New Jersey State Police Criminal History Check Form via online system

NJ State Police Criminal History Checks completed online require staff to submit the name and information of the applicant into the online system. Prospective member must check their email and consent to the NJ State Criminal History Check via online. 

 

Step 8:Prospective Members MUST initiate own FBI fingerprint criminal history check. 

FBI fingerprint criminal history checks are conducted through Fieldprint. Prospective members must make their own appointment to complete this process, and will be able to do so using the NJ Bonner AmeriCorps code provided here.

 

 

Step 9: Complete the AmeriCorps Application Checklist

Step 9: Mail or Hand Deliver the Member Application and Required Documents to the Bonner Foundation AT LEAST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE DESIRED START DATE for the Member.  

The Member Application comprises, and will be rejected without, all of the following:

  • Application Checklist
  • Member Application
  • Eligibility Documentation (see Step 1)
  • Updated Resume 
  • Education Documentation 
  • Criminal History Checks:
    • NSOPW Results
    • New Jersey State Police Criminal History Check Consent via email
    • FBI Fingerprinting Appointment is scheduled

NOTE: Under CNCS rules, Members CANNOT commence their term of service until the NSOPW check is completed, the New Jersey State Police Criminal History Check and FBI Fingerprinting Check has been completed.


 

Once the Program Director accepts application, receives all required eligibility documentation as noted on the NJ Bonner AmeriCorps program Application checklist (including social security number), and initiates all criminal history checks, the Program Director will then extend the selected applicant an invitation to attend orientation to review the member contract, program expectations, and AmeriCorps rules and regulations.

 

 

 

Applicant accepts invitation via automated email and completes online Enrollment Form (Part 1) via My AmeriCorps Portal prior to NJ Bonner AmeriCorps Orientation.
