    Meeting 1 

    Action Steps for Creating a Community-Based Participatory Research Project

    Bonner Curriculum workshop guides participants to develop a focus and action steps for a CBPR project, which involves doing research that serves a community interest. Students should be introduced to this option here or earlier (during their third year).

    Meeting 2 

    BHAGs: Setting Big Hairy Audacious Goals 

    Bonner Curriculum workshop introduces participants to a visionary tool for goal setting, “Big Hairy Audacious Goals,” from Built to Last, documenting successful organizations.  
    Meeting 3 

     

    Mapping Out Donors

    Part 2

     
    Bonner Curriculum workshop focuses on guiding participants through the mapping of resources, determining where participants need to focus further effort, and exploring ways to build their funding network. This second session aims at analyzing funding and prioritizing how to pursuit donors to fund nonprofits. 
    Meeting 4 

     

    Vocation: Board of Directors  

    Bonner Curriculum workshop helps participants consider mentors and their impacts, using the metaphor of a non-profit board of directors as advisors to guide them.  

     

    Meeting 5 

     

    Fundraising Strategies:  Developing and Executing a Plan

     

     Bonner Curriculum workshop guides participants to develop and carry out multifaceted resource development for an organization or project.

     

    Meeting 6 

     

    Building Shared Vision 

    Bonner Curriculum workshop guides participants to create a shared vision for a site, team, or project.  It teaches more complex collaboration and facilitation skills. 

    Meeting 7

     

    Tuesdays with Morrie Reading and Discussion 

    Bonner Curriculum workshop integrates Tuesdays with Morrie to have participants consider harder questions about life.  This builds introspection and dialogue.  

     

     

    Meeting 8 

     

    Host a retreat for Seniors to reflect and focus on their final term 

     

     Guide seniors through preparations for their Senior Presentations of Learning. Also, for seniors who are going to do a Capstone that connects to their academic work and community engagement, work with them on discuss their research and projects, work with faculty, and timelines.

    Public Speaking: Preparation for Senior Learning Presentations  

    Bonner Curriculum workshop teaches public speaking for a variety of speech types, building communication skills. 

    Meeting 10 

    Seeing Through Employers' Eyes: Group Resume Game  

    Bonner Curriculum workshop helps participants improve their resumes through an interactive activity designed to generate critical thinking and feedback.

    Resume Writing and Senior Resume Review

     

    Bonner Curriculum workshop teaches participants to revise their resumes to view them from prospective employers’ views. Also consider engaging a staff member from your Career Services office and asking all Bonner seniors to create a resume and cover letter for review.

    Meeting 12 

     

    Preparing a Leadership Transition:

    Part 1  Part 2

     

     

    Bonner Curriculum workshop guides participants to prepare for a leadership transition for their partner sites. The workshop helps students reflect on and create a position description and materials for their successor.

     

    Meeting 13 

     

    Preparing to Transition to Leadership: Want Ads 

    Want ads give the outgoing leaders a good idea of what information they need to pass on to the new leaders to ensure they are prepared to take on new roles and that the leadership transition is smooth.

    Meeting 14  Last Words: A Reflection on My Bonner Journey 

    Bonner Curriculum workshop helps participants reflect on their four-year developmental experience & learning.

     

    Meeting 15 

     

    Senior Presentations of Learning 

     

     

    Usually, the end of the year will involve one or many banquets or events (open to campus and community) at which Bonner seniors will give their Senior Presentations of Learning.

     

    You may want to videotape these (which can be kept to share with future Bonners and also used for assessment).

    Meeting 16 Senior Celebration Additionally, there is typically a big Senior Celebration for the graduating class or end of the year. Students can help plan this!
