Widener University is a nationally-recognized, private institution where academics, leadership, and service matter. Widener University's ranking in the 2022 edition of Best Colleges and National Universities is #213. Founded in 1821, the school began as a preparatory school for boys, became a military academy a few decades later, and is now a coed university with more than 40 undergraduate programs. Students at Widener University can also pursue a variety of master's and doctoral degree programs, including business, law, and education. Widener University also has satellite campuses in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and in Wilmington, Delaware.
Widener is among the nation’s top universities for civic engagement. We believe that academic excellence, career preparation, and civic engagement lead to success. Wideners campus is located in Chester, Pennsylvania, about 15 miles south of Philadelphia. Our beautiful 108-acre main campus is a great place to live, study, and have fun. Part of Widener University's mission is to help the local community. Each year, many Widener students tutor and mentor local children, help organizations address food insecurity, and provide companionship to the senior population. Our close-knit community also includes top-notch professors, nationally renowned researchers, and students from 25 states and 31 countries who all exhibit great passion for leadership, making a difference, and learning in and outside of the classroom.
