CAMPUS-WIDE ENGAGEMENT AT A GLANCE

  • National Day of Service and MLK Dy of Service
    • Bonner Leaders play an integral part in the development and successful coordination of two large days of service on campus at Montclair State University. One Bonner each year sits on the campus wide committee to plan and implement a National Day of Service and Remembrance for 9/11 and an MLK Day of Service providing insights and assisting with coordinating all service placements. Both days of service have between 400-700 volunteers each, with community placements both on ad off campus in our surrounding communities. Bonners receive training in advance of each day and serve as the site leaders at each community placement to ensure a successful and difficulty free service day.

  • Leadership Development through Civic Engagement Minor
    • The Leadership Development through Civic Engagement Minor is the largest interdisciplinary minor on campus at Montclair State University. All incoming Bonner Leaders are required to be a part of the leadership minor and take the first service-learning course in the curriculum their first semester at Montclair State. The minor was developed to integrate civic engagement into a core curriculum that provides students with real world leadership skills. What started as a small minor has grown substantially in the past few years to incorporate many students from different colleges and disciplines.
