Participants (staff, Bonners, and AmeriCorps members) will read Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead as a guide to drive the discussion. Webinars will have engaging activities to identify their own primary values and character traits as leaders.

When we dare to lead, we don’t pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don’t see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability. We don’t avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into the vulnerability that’s necessary to do good work.

 

Daring leadership in a culture that’s defined by scarcity, fear and uncertainty requires building courage skills, which are uniquely human. The irony is that we’re choosing not to invest in developing the hearts and minds of leaders at the same time we’re scrambling to figure out what we have to offer that machines can’t do better and faster. What can we do better?

 

Program Description

Participants commit to reading the selected book and engaging in discussions during the scheduled webinars. Participants will receive questions and discussion topics to explore and reflect prior to each video meet-up, which will help guide discussions.

  • Webinars will be limited in size.  Registrants (staff, students and AmeriCorps members) will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • Participants must attend all scheduled meeting times. Please have respect for our Bonner Community and those who were not accepted into the series that would like to have the opportunity to participate.
  • Participants are willing to interact and engage in the discussion and read the assigned sections prior to webinars.
